The word ‘textile’ derives from Latin meaning ‘woven’ or ‘to weave’. It is a process that is thousands of years old but still being practiced and redefined today by textile artists using a range of techniques to create amazing wearable garments and accessories that are truly one-of-a-kind. Each item is slightly different from the last, which is the beauty of handmade clothing! Check out Edith Otto’s velvet creations or Sue Winner’s opulent and creative couture. Reem Khalil is also not to be missed featuring textiles that are hand-dyed with natural elements.
The Sawdust Art Festival features over 200 eclectic artists. Come check out their wonderful works on display. The artists featured below work with the Clothing medium.
