Metal Work

Metalworking is the process of working with metals to create individual parts, assemblies and sculptures of artistic merit. Raw metal is heat-treated, forged, hammered, riveted, and soldered, giving it new life as a functional or decorative object of art. Examples can be seen throughout the festival with Drew Weir’s casted bronze, and the forged copper vessels of Nevada Silva.

Did You Know?

The most common metals include gold, tin, bronze, copper, lead, silver and iron. Found in mineral-bearing rock, they require heat to liberate the metal. Tin melts at the lowest heat around 450°F with wrought iron at the high at 2900°F. Metalworkers tend to be very down-to-earth, a vibe they get from working with the Ores of the Earth!
